ABOUT THE BOOK
The true story of a young man from deep in the South who served his country in the Submarine Service of the U.S. Navy. The action, love, humor and near death experences led him to a realization that a power far greater than himself was directing him to a life, much more meaningful than any he could attain on his own. The story is fast paced and presented in the real life language of the fifties.
ABOUT THE COVER
The old boy was depressed and had urges to simply set his year's work aside and forget it. He had designed the cover long before the book was finished. He input his cover design into the computerized cover design format. The old boy had spent a lot if time praying about the book and asking if it was the right thing to do. He truly felt the book would be a testimony of how God has a Plan. He often wondered if some of the book's characters would be offended. The computer reported the cover was completed and ready for review. The old boy gazed at the finished cover and realized God had answered his prayer.

Excerpts from the book
[ Paraphrased ]
* The torpedo wakes were terrifying as the luminescent of the sea glittered brightly in the darkness off our port bow. They were coming fast. It was evident we could not evade them. The OD sounded the collision alarm. I turned my back and steeled myself for the blast. I wondered if I would feel the pain. I prayed. "GOD! - Please accept my spirit!"
* Duane Eddy and the "Rebels" played the most rousing rendetion of "Rebel Rouser" I ever heard. It was a magnificient party. Even the basket of fiddler crabs, some drunk dumped on the dance floor, did not spoil the mood. Duane Eddy was off on the road to stardom and I was there for the blastoff!
* Mac and I opened the massive ornate doors to the giant foyer and there she stood. It had been nearly a year and she was there, as pretty as ever in her green satin party dress. She smiled as she walked to me and took my hand. I spoke as she led me to the dance floor. "Del! - I'm sorry -----!" She turned and placed her finger over my lips, then whispered softly. "It doesn't matter - Lynn - You're here now."
* The water continued to rise. Our eyes began to burn from the electrolysis of the salt water eating at the electronics. The increased water pressue was hurting our ears. There was no panic, just calm resolve as we waited for the angel of death. I prayed. "LORD! - Please accept my spirit!"
* "It's not you - Lynn! - It's me - I'm the one who's not being honest!" She continued to sob. "Oh Lynn! - I'm married - the baby is not my sister's - he's mine!" I suddenly realized a woman can be just as big a louse as a man.
* I was steadily working on this man's face. I knew I couldn't do much damage to his massive torso. My blows sounded like smacking the side of a beef. His fist fell like sledge hammers. Hollywood does a fair job with fight scenes, but nothing is like the real thing. I felt the blood dripping in my face. I could taste it's salty pungency as Jonesy growled. "Wardlaw! - You shouda killed me when you had the chance - cause I"m gonna klll you now!" I knew the blow was coming.
* We were startled by a clamor from up on the ridge to our left. It sounded as if the entire Nationalist Movement was decending on us with our annihilation in mind. We could see no details in the dim light of the tropical forest, but the clatter and Spanish profanity indicated it was charging down this mountainside directly at us. I heard the "Ca- Chink" of Mac's knife as he went into a defensive crouch.
* I stepped back from the helm and saw the Captain at the base of the conning tower ladder. I called as low as I could, trying not to alert the ORI observers. "Cap'n!" He made a "Do not disturb" sign with his hand. I felt it couldn't wait. Again I called. "Cap'n!" He jerked his head up and I could see the fury in his face. It didn't matter, my Torsk struck the ocean bottom. I was no longer in the Captain's mind as he was hurled into the plotting table. I sounded the collision alarm.
* The Doctor looked at me intently. I was in a state of shock. "Son - I've never seen the disease this rampant - your bloodstream is teeming with the germ! - I'm sorry - I can't give you any hope!" ------ I was dead!
* I never noticed the faceless lady had ruby red, rose petal lips. GOD HAD A PLAN!
About the Book
Savannah Author - Lynn Zack Wardlaw
Available at all major Book Sellers or by authors full name - Title "Jaacov"
Jaacov is from the mind of the author, but as you read of his life, he will live in your heart. Jaacov was one of the shepherds abiding in the fields the night Jesus was born. These shepherds were the only witnesses to that most magnificient event when the voice from God and the Heavenly Host announced the birth of our Savior.
Jaacov was an orphan who never knew anything but shepherding when God called him to a life that was far different from any he would have desired. As he grew older and followered God's will, he never fully understood the human frailties and emotions that exist in society.
God had a plan for Jaacov and he followed it willingly, yet unknowingly. Jaacov's life will come alive as it entwines with the lives of Jesus and the Roman Centurion, Cornelius.
Jaacov could have turned away at any time and followed his own path, this is called "free will," but he chose to yield completely to the will of God. Many times he asked "Oh Great Elohim - What more do you want of me?" All the simple man ever wanted was to tend his sheep.
Jaacov could represent any man that follows the will of God, never knowing the magnitude of what he is doing and never faltering to complete the task God has set before him.
The setting in the book is the time of Christ and the place is Judea. Rome has conquered most of the civilized world and is knocking on the door of the Pagans. The book takes a glimpse at the Hebrew relationship with the Romans. Jaacov, in his simple way, serves both man and God.
Jaacov heard the words, "You still have much to do!" He never understood what God wanted of him until, over seventy years later, on the last day of his life, he relates to Luke that wonderful night Jesus was born. It was the beginning of "THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD"
GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EVERYONE
Excerpts from the book
[ Paraphrased ]
* The sweat glistened through the thick black hair on the Arab's chest. He twirled the giant scimitar and took a step my way. The blackness of exhaustion was overpowering me as I began to fall. I saw the leering smile of the Arab as he raised the blade over his head.
* How comforting to feel the cool hands of my Rachel as she cradled my head to her bosom. She began to curl my temple ringlets of hair around her fingers. The pain in my shoulder was intense, but could not overpower the touch of Rachel's love.
* John had not been kind with his address to the Priests. Cornelius stepped forward and swallowed the lump in his throat. "Please tell me - Prophet - what of us?"
* The flames of the pirate's ship could be seen for miles. As the ship sailed father away, it seemed to be sinking into the sea. I noted this strange phenomenon and realized all things far away seemed to sink, even into the earth, how curious.
* The Roman looked at the stones and marveled at how they gleamed and glistened in the light. Suddenely he clasped them in his hand and quickly looked about. "Jaacov! - Have you shown these stones to anyone else?" I shook my head. "Jaacov - never let anyone you do not trust see these jewels! - You are a very wealthy young man!"
* I stood and looked at the young man in the polished metal. He seemed to mock me. I leaned closer and he leaned closer. I turned to the side and he turned to the side. Suddenely I realized I was seeing myself. I had only seen myself in the quivering waters of the oasis on occasions. I thought if there were more people in the mirror I would not know which one was me. I looked closely at myself so the next time I saw myself I would know who I was.
* The beautiful creature threw herself into my arms and sobbed. I felt a strange warm feeling building from deep within. Another new feeling, when would they stop? I prayed. "Oh Great Elohim! - I need no more new feelings!"
* I stood with Peter and John. We were transfixed as Jesus slowly ascended into the clouds of Heaven. Suddenely two men in gleaming white raiment stood on the hill and called. "WHY DO YOU STILL STAND HERE?"
* As I floated away I looked down to see Bridget pick up the stones and coins. She put them in the old leather pouch and placed them in the hands of the old man. She hesitated a moment and placed her hand to his forehead. She sank to the floor and lay her head upon his bosom. Her sobs faded as I drifted away.
About the Book

The good folks recorded here , in this book, are the influence that made the author the man he is today. It was a time when the old world merged with the new age and he was pleasured to witness this amazing transformation.

Excerpts from the book
[ Paraphrased ]
* The shadowed hand grasped the woman by the hair and cruelly pulled her head back exposing her neck. The long knife was clearly visible as it made a sweep across the womans neck. The piercing shreak rang through the silent street. The man's hand lifted the severed head high for all to see as the shadow of the dripping blood was clearly displayed on the window shade. The kids fled screaming in terror.
* The eyes of the groomsman were wide with terror as he held his hand high. The long black snake still clung to the flesh of his thumb.
* "Come on - big boy - jump! - I'll catch ya!" The smiling face of Ben Saur was reassuring. Others in the group chimed in. "Jump Lynn - Ben will catch you - you can do it - jump Lynn - jump!" I shut my eyes and launced into the air.
* I lay in my bed and wondered, why was the sky so blue? I had never seen the sky from my bed before. Where was the ceiling and the roof?
* The body popped out of the water face down with arms outstretched. We had never seen a body after a week in the water.
